Privacy Policy

This privacy policy explains how the LinkedIn AI Comments browser extension (the "Extension") handles information. The Extension is designed with a privacy-first approach: we do not operate a backend server, we do not collect any data about you, and we do not track your activity.

1. Who we are

This Extension is developed and maintained by its independent creator (the "Developer"). The Developer does not operate any backend infrastructure and does not collect, store, or process user data on any server.

2. What data the Extension handles

The Extension handles the following categories of data, all of which remain under your control:

• Profile information you enter: name, role, industry, preferred tone, LinkedIn goal, and optional short bio. This is used to personalize the suggestions generated for you.
• Your Anthropic API key: provided by you, required to make requests to Anthropic's Claude API.
• LinkedIn post content: the text of a specific LinkedIn post, accessed only when you click the "AI Comment" button on that post.

3. Where your data is stored

Your profile information and your API key are stored locally on your device using the Chrome Storage API (chrome.storage.sync). This means the data is kept in your Chrome profile and may be synchronized across your own devices by Chrome's built-in sync feature (if you have it enabled with your Google account).

The Developer does not have access to this data. It is never transmitted to the Developer, any analytics service, or any third party other than Anthropic as described below.

4. When and how data leaves your device

Data leaves your device only in one situation: when you actively click the "AI Comment" button on a LinkedIn post and request that comment suggestions be generated. At that moment, the Extension makes a direct HTTPS request from your browser to Anthropic's Claude API (https://api.anthropic.com) containing:

• the text of the LinkedIn post you are viewing;
• selected metadata visible in the post (author name, author title, hashtags, presence of image/video);
• your selected goal and tone for this generation;
• your profile information, used to personalize the output;
• your Anthropic API key, used to authenticate the request.

This request goes directly from your browser to Anthropic. It does not pass through any server operated by the Developer. Anthropic's handling of this data is governed by their own Privacy Policy and Commercial Terms.

5. What we do NOT do

• We do not collect any personal data on our own servers (we have no servers).
• We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, or third-party SDKs.
• We do not sell or share your data with anyone.
• We do not read or modify content on any website other than linkedin.com.
• We do not access your LinkedIn credentials, messages, connections, or profile data.
• We do not store your API key remotely. It lives only on your device.
• We do not use your data for advertising, credit scoring, or lending decisions.

6. Permissions the Extension requests

• storage — to save your profile preferences and API key locally.
• activeTab — to read the content of the LinkedIn post you are viewing, only at the moment you click the "AI Comment" button.
• host permission for linkedin.com — to inject the "AI Comment" button and the suggestions panel into the LinkedIn interface.
• host permission for api.anthropic.com — to send your generation request directly to Anthropic's Claude API.

7. Data retention and deletion

Because data stays on your device, you can remove it at any time by:

• clearing your profile and API key from the Extension's popup;
• uninstalling the Extension, which also removes all locally stored data;
• clearing your Chrome extension storage from Chrome's settings.

8. Children's privacy

The Extension is not intended for, and must not be used by, anyone under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required by law in your jurisdiction). It is also subject to LinkedIn's own minimum age requirements.

9. Security

All communication with Anthropic's API occurs over HTTPS. Your API key is never logged or transmitted to any party other than Anthropic. That said, since your API key is stored locally via chrome.storage.sync, its security ultimately depends on the security of your Google account and your device. Do not share your Chrome profile or Google account with untrusted parties.

10. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated to reflect changes in the Extension's features or in applicable regulations. Any updates will be published at this URL, and the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change accordingly. Material changes will also be communicated in the Extension's changelog on the Chrome Web Store.
